Aleen Gunter Turner

Mrs. Aleen Gunter Turner, 95, of Lexington-Carlton Road, Carlton, wife of the late Benjamin Turner, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 6, 2026, at Comer Health and Rehabilitation Center, where she had been lovingly cared for during the last month.

The eldest of two, Aleen was born in Madison County on November 13, 1930, daughter of the late Jim Henry Quillian Gunter and Thelma Irene King Gunter. She worked at Blue Bell Sewing Plant in Comer and General Times in Athens. Aleen was a member of Glade Baptist Church and was an excellent seamstress - making many of her’s and Benjamin’s clothes. She loved flowers and enjoyed working in her gardens.

Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Winnie and Johnny Tiller of Carlton; and grand youngin’, Billy Tiller of Carlton. She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; and sister, Lila Mae Turman.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 8, from 6:00p.m. until 8:00p.m. at Berry Funeral Home.

Funeral services celebrating Aleen’s life will be conducted on Thursday, April 9, at 2:00p.m. in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home, officiated by the Revs. Eddie Bouknight and Russell Bruce. Interment, beside her beloved Benjamin, will follow in the Glade Cemetery.
