Ann E. Moore, 74, of Athens Highway, Elberton, died on Sunday morning, August 3, 2025, at The Tignall House, following a several years battle with dementia. Despite her diminished mental status, she never lost her sweet spirit, charming smile, or loving nature.
The wife of 56 years to Charles Randall Moore, they were the proud parents of Charles Robert “Robbie” and William Chadwick “Chad”. She thoroughly enjoyed being “Mama Ann” to her grandsons, Tanner Cole and Colsen Chadwick.
Elizabeth Ann Edwards was born in Elberton on February 16, 1951, the second of two daughters born to William Odell Edwards and Doris Hulme Edwards. Raised with her sister, Linda, the family was active in the Concord United Methodist Church all through her childhood. In addition to her parents and sister, she is preceded in death by her step-mother, Wynee Dove Floyd Edwards; mother-in-law that she loved dearly, Catherine Moore Glenn; and father-in-law, Charlie Moore.
Ann attended school in Elbert County, and graduated from Elbert County High School in 1969. During her high school years, she excelled as a basketball player and as a varsity football cheerleader. She was awarded Miss Blue Devil 1969 and was on the Senior Beauty Court. Ann enjoyed class reunions and looked forward to attending lunch with the “69 Lunch Bunch” monthly.
During high school, she worked under the leadership of Beefy Eaves as a lifeguard at the city pool. She fondly talked about this experience and the life lessons she learned while at the pool. Ann began her granite career at Coggins Granite Company in the early 1970s, and retired in 2017 after a successful career in the industry.
She worked for 4 1/2 years at Allstate Insurance in Lynchburg, VA while the family lived there for Randall’s work, and resumed her career with the granite industry in 1981 at Elberton Granite Finishing Company as an office assistant. Ann quickly proved her skills and became a sales manager for the company. She joined the sales department at Star Granite Company in 1985. At the time of her retirement in 2017, she had worked in various positions, including sales representative and customer service manager.
Ann was a dedicated and devoted member of Antioch Baptist Church as long as her health permitted. There, she was active in the Women’s Missionary Union and enjoyed serving with all of the children ministries. Ann was a member of the choir, often serving as pianist and organist, and served as a Sunday school teacher. She carried the love of Christ with her everyday, and prayed the most beautiful blessings one could fathom, which were always expected at any family gathering.
The epitome of a homemaker, she could often be found working in her yard or cooking a delicious meal for her family. Ann enjoyed “digging in the dirt” and her many beautiful flowers were certainly the fruits of her labor. Weekends from Memorial Day to Labor Day were meant for the family to gather with friends at the cabin on Clarks Hill Lake. A consummate host, Ann always made sure coolers and picnic baskets were packed, meals were served on time, and that coffee mugs had just the right amount of ice cream in them for dessert.
She was an avid fan of the University of Georgia Lady Dogs basketball team, and rarely missed attending a home game. Of course, those trips were not complete without lunch at The Varsity. Her love of sports continued as she enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves and the University of Georgia Football team. Ann almost always had a smile on her face, and could light up any room in which she entered. She had the unique ability to make everyone feel as if they were the most important person in the world.
The family may be contacted at the residence, and will receive friends on Tuesday evening, August 5, from 5 o’clock until 7 o’clock at Berry Funeral Home.
Her life will be celebrated during a funeral service on Wednesday afternoon, August 6, at 1 o’clock in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home, officiated by the Rev. Ken Thrift.
Committal service, officiated by the Rev. Andrew Sullivan, will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park where she will be laid to rest in the mausoleum.
Active pallbearers will include Tanner Moore, Colsen Moore, Mark Adams, Rick Adams, Nolan Strong, and Brock Boyd. Honorary pallbearers will include Rusty Adams, Donnie Parham, and Johnny Partain. The Class of 1969 will serve as honorary pallbearers as well.
