Barbara Joyce Reed Grimes Peters

Barbara Joyce Reed Grimes Peters, 82, of Athens, passed away Sunday, December 5, 2021.
Born in Elberton, Mrs. Peters was a daughter of the late Clayburn Judd Reed and Alice Bryant Reed. She worked as an insurance agent for Liberty National. Mrs. Peters was a longtime member of Riverside Baptist Church and enjoyed quilting and crocheting.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Jackson Peters; son, Norman Grimes; and daughter, Clayda Grimes.

Survivors include children, Rebecca Yarbrough (Marshall) of Winterville and Charles Grimes (Deborah) of Carlton; sisters, Evon Dennis of McMinnville, TN and Joann Thatch of Rock Island, TN; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 8, at 11:00 a.m., at the Bernstein Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Chuck Black officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 7, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
