Berlie Lee House

Mr. Berlie Lee “Buddy” House, 86, of Elberton, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 26, 2025, at PruittHealth at Spring Valley with his wife of 68 years, Sakiko “Sally” House, at his side.

Mr. House was born in Madison County on March 4, 1939, son of the late Dewey L. House and Cora Dalton House. He attended school at Nancy Hart School in Fortsonia, and served his country faithfully in the United States Army. Buddy was a firefighter having worked in El Paso, TX until retiring due to injuries received while working. Once returning to Elberton, he worked as a security guard, most notably at Emmanuel College and Petersburg Towers.

He was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed farming and raising cattle. Buddy loved hunting, fishing, and gardening as long as his health permitted. He looked forward to feeding squirrels and birds, and watching sports of all kinds.

Survivors, in addition to his wife Sally, are his daughters: Sarah and Michael Baston, Deborah and Todd Kirby, and Sandra House and John Cryder, all of Elberton; grandchildren: Mallory Baston and Matt Pulliam, Mason and Kiersten Baston, Garrett Baston, Kendall Baston, Courtney Williams, Marlee and Allen Bradford, and Kaylee and Austin Farrow; great-grandchildren: Hadlee Baston, Tucker Williams, Way Bradford, Rhode Bradford, Kiko Farrow, and Wonder Farrow; and a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters and brothers-in-law: Ethel and Joel Graham and Lula Mae and Herbert Sanders.

Mr. House will lie in state on Wednesday, May 28, from 9:00a.m.-4:30p.m. for those wishing to pay their respects and sign the guestbook.

Private funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 29, in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home, officiated by the Rev. Bobby Baston. Burial will follow in Elmhurst Cemetery.
