Betty Roberts Payne

Betty Roberts Payne, age 76, passed away Friday, November 3, 2023 at Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center following a sudden illness.

Betty was born in Elberton to the late Charles Roberts and Frances Ridgeway Roberts.  She grew up at Elberton First Presbyterian Church.  In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her daughter, Jinny Reagan; granddaughter, Summer Grimes; and sister, Susan Roberts. 

A true magnolia, Betty exuded class and elegance.  She enjoyed working in her flower garden, having her nose stuck in a good book, and decorating for Christmas.  

She is survived by her three children, Sharon Swartz, John Tiller (Melanie), and Robbi Tiller; two brothers, Ed Roberts and Sonny Roberts; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and her beloved four legged companions, Fiona, Tristan, and Scooter.

No public services are planned at this time.
