Billy Edwin Massey

Mr. Billy Edwin Massey, 81, of E. Church Street, Bowman, GA, husband of 60 years to Sandra Dianne Vaughn Massey, passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at PruittHealth Old Capital in Louisville, GA.

Billy was born in Royston, GA on August 16, 1944, son of the late William Henry Massey and Gertrude Rebecca Oliver Massey. He was drafted into the United States Navy during high school, and served faithfully in Vietnam. For a brief time, Billy owned and operated Massey Trucking Company and retired in 2006 as a supervisor of the shipping department at PowerPartners.

Above all, Billy loved his family dearly. He enjoyed spending time outside, loved fishing, and never passed up an opportunity to go to the beach. His favorite past time was “loafing around!” Billy was a member of Faith Baptist Church.

In addition to his devoted wife, Sandra, he is survived by his daughter, Tami Dianne Massey Rucker of Bowman, GA; grandsons: William Jason (Dianna) Rucker and Joshua Thomas Rucker, both of Bowman, GA; great-grandsons: Kenneth and Austin; siblings: Jeanette Walker of Florence, SC, Shuler (Cheryl) Massey of Vero Beach, FL, and Becky (Bill) Saylors of Crawford, GA; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, Billy is preceded in death by his son-in-law, William Rucker; and siblings: infant John Henry Massey, Frank Massey, Jimmy Massey, Sue Massey, and infant Alice Massey.

At Billy’s request, no formal service will be held. A private family graveside service will be held in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Bowman, GA at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Ramp Ministry of First Baptist Church of Elberton, 132 Heard Street, Elberton, GA 30635.
