Carol Ann Kidd Lunceford

Mrs. Carol Ann Kidd Lunceford, 65, of Nickville Road, Dewy Rose, died on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at her residence. As she left this world behind, she undoubtedly heard the words, “welcome home, thy good and faithful servant.”

The second of four, Carol was born in Atlanta on December 14, 1960, daughter of the late Roy Jeptha Kidd and Mary Jeannette Hendrix Kidd. She was a graduate of Elbert County High School and a member of Dewy Rose Baptist Church, where she formerly was involved with the Sunday school department and vacation bible school.

A hard working woman, Carol often held multiple jobs in order to support her family. She retired from the Elbert County Board of Education where she worked in the cafeteria at Elbert County Comprehensive High School for many years. She is also remembered from many years of service at Papa’s Pizza and Subway.

Carol appreciated the simple things in life, such as riding country roads and camping trips to the mountains. She enjoyed playing bunco with her girlfriends and indulging in Little Debbie Cakes. Above all, her greatest accomplishment and sense of joy was her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, and “CC”. Despite what life brought, Carol faced it with a smile on her face and always took care of those who mattered the most to her.

She is survived by her three sons: Brad (Lauren) Lunceford of Jefferson, Josh Lunceford of Dewy Rose, and Drew (Jessica Star) Lunceford of Mableton; grandchildren: Ryleigh, Grayson, and Kinnesyn; siblings: Bill Kidd of Elberton and Joan (David) Gunter of Dewy Rose; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Curtis ‘Dwayne’ Lunceford; step-mother, Bobbie Sue Kidd; and brother, Allen Kidd.

A graveside service honoring Carol’s life will be conducted on Saturday, September 5, at 11:00a.m. at Dewy Rose Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Gary Purvis officiating. Carol would want everyone comfortable - please come as you are and dressed appropriately for the extreme heat.
