Carol Linda Scott Mills

Mrs. Carol Linda Scott Mills, 85, of Bowman, wife of 67 years to Charles Henry “Charlie” Mills, Jr., passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, after a brief illness at St. Mary’s Hospital in Athens.

The fourth of six children, Carol was born in Elberton on October 26, 1940, daughter of the late Joe Howard Scott and Beatrice Booth Scott.

She was a faithful member of Bowman Baptist Church and attended the Willing Workers Sunday School class. Carol loved children, and they loved her. She ministered to many preschool children at Bowman Baptist Church for years and was always there to help with church activities, especially Vacation Bible School.

Carol worked at Bowman Elementary as a paraprofessional from 1979 until 2009 and touched many lives through her kindness, patience, and caring spirit. She dearly loved her family, and you could always find Nana cheering on her grandchildren at sporting events.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Joe Howard Scott and Beatrice Booth Scott; one sister, Betty Jo Mize; and one brother, Kenny Scott.

She is survived by her husband, Charlie Mills; her children, Russell (Michelle) Mills of Kathleen, Ronald Mills of Bowman, and Ryan (Sharon) Mills of Bowman; her grandchildren: Tyler (Autom), Matt (Kelly), Tony (Katrina), Megan, Brett, Tanner (Amanda) Mills, Ashley (Chance) Yeargin, and Summer (Jake) Milford; numerous great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Martha Berryman, Jerry (Linda) Scott, and Bill (Sue) Scott, all of Bowman, as well as cherished nieces and nephews.

Her kindness, faith, and servant’s heart touched many lives throughout her years of service to her church, school, family, and community.

There will be a memorial service held at Bowman Baptist Church on Saturday, May 23, at 11:00a.m. The family will greet friends from 10:00a.m. until 10:45a.m. prior to the service.

Flowers are accepted and contributions may be made in her memory to Bowman Baptist Church, 166 West Church Street, Bowman, GA 30624.
