Charles Allen Boswell

Mr. Charles Allen Boswell, 85, of Elm Street, Elberton, husband of 60 years to the late Rosie Mae Moon Boswell, passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at his son’s residence in Winterville.

Charles was born in Elberton on June 11, 1939, son of the late E.J. Boswell and Allen Willene Boles Boswell. He devoted his working career to the granite industry, retiring as a sandblaster, and served his country in the Georgia Army National Guard. A man of great faith, Charles never missed a day reading his bible, and enjoyed worshipping with his church families at Grace Baptist Church and West End Baptist Church. Affectionately known as “Papa” to his family, he enjoyed dancing and watching western television shows. Charles was an avid gardener, with a special love for growing tomatoes.

He is survived by his daughter, Tammy Jo Boswell of Elberton; son, Charles Jeffery Boswell and his wife Anita of Lexington; sister, Peggy Cartledge of Elberton; grandchildren: Ryan and Jillian Wright, Jake and Ashley Boswell, Lauren “Rosebud” Wright, Luke Boswell, and Lee and Emily Boswell; great-grandchildren: Aspen Wright, Avery Wright, Jameson Wright, Pait Boswell, Oscar Boswell, Olivia Boswell, and Amelia Boswell; and a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by his brother, Bobby Boswell.Charles was adamant that he did not want a formal service, and the family is honoring is request. 

A private committal service will be held in Elmhurst Cemetery. However, those wishing, may express their condolences by signing the register book at Berry Funeral Home beginning Tuesday, May 27, through Thursday, May 29.
