Mr. Charles Alfred Butler, 89, of Charles Butler Drive, Elberton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 4, 2023, at Magnolia Estates.
Charles was born in Dewy Rose on August 28, 1933, son of the late Haley Pope Butler and Ressie Mae Ayers Butler. He was a United States Army veteran and a warehouse supervisor having retired from Coggins Granite Company. Mr. Butler was a member of Northside Baptist Church. Before moving to Magnolia Estates, he always looked forward to having breakfast at McIntosh Coffee Shop each morning. One Charles’s favorite pastimes was sitting on the Elberton Square with a big cup of ice cream from Ward’s Pharmacy with his daughter, Penny.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Martha Ann Brady Butler.
Survivors include his son: Jeff (Tamara) Butler of Elberton; daughter, Penny (Julian) Fant of Warner Robins; grandchildren: Haley (Bryson) Norman of Elberton, Alex (Kelsey) Fant of Kathleen, Holly (Casey) Graham of Perry, and Luke (Erin) Butler of Elberton; great-grandchildren: Brantley and Levi Graham; and brother, Hugh (Judy) Butler of Dewy Rose.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 9, from 1:00-1:45p.m. at Berry Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2:00p.m. in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Fernandez officiating. Interment will be in Elmhurst Cemetery with Alex Fant, Luke Butler, Bryson Norman, Casey Graham, Phillip Brady, and Carey Butler serving as pallbearers.

The family wishes to extend their sincerest appreciate to the staff at Magnolia Estates for the love and care that Charles received over the last year, and to Bristol Hospice for the care he received during his final days.
