Mr. Charles Woodfin "Buddy" Case, Sr., 76, of Cleveland Drive, Elberton, husband of 17 years to Virginia Hart Garrett Case, passed away on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at AnMed Health Medical Center.
The second of four, Buddy was born in Elberton on February 2, 1949. He was a 1967 graduate of Elbert County High School. Buddy served his country faithfully in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era, where he flew all over Vietnam working as a radio repairman. He worked in the granite industry all of his life, retiring from Star Granite Company as a foreman.
Affectionately known as “Grampy” to his family, Buddy was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed cutting trees, splitting wood, and never missed an opportunity to build a fire to enjoy. Buddy could often be found enjoying a ride on his tractor or building things in his shop.
He is survived by his wife Virginia; sons: Christopher Ryan Case and Corey Clifford Case, both of Elberton; daughters-in-law, Lorraine Case of Grovetown and Samantha Case of Elberton; bonus-daughters and their families, all of whom he loved as his own: Donna and Ken Aaron of Commerce and Denice and Tim Fowler of Arcade; sisters and brothers-in-law: Gail and George Byron and Jan Mauldin, all of Hartwell; sister-in-law, Pat Case of Elberton; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Buddy is preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Bobbie Lucille Stratton Jones and Bertram DeWitt Jones; father, Alva Clinton Case; son, Charles Woodfin “Chip” Case, Jr.; and brother, Timothy Case.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 30, from 3:00-4:45p.m. at Berry Funeral Home. Funeral services, officiated by the Rev. John Case, will follow at 5:00p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in the Vans Creek Baptist Church cemetery.
