Charles Thomas “Tommy” Eavenson died with his wife by his side on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at his home on Sunrise Court in Elberton.
Tommy is survived by his wife, Elaine; stepson, Matt Easom; and a granddaughter, Cally Easom. He is also survived by his sisters: Sharon Ayers and Janie Moore; and Manny Lopez, who was like a son to Tommy. Tommy is predeceased by his parents, Clyde Thomas Eavenson and Mattie Lena Fields Eavenson; and a sister, Anne Brady. The family expresses sincere gratitude to his caregivers, Priscilla and Alicia.
He was a 1966 graduate of Elbert County High School. Tommy was a lifelong member of Concord United Methodist Church where he served on the administrative board and as church treasurer. He was a faithful worker for and generous supporter of the food ministry for many years. Tommy loved the Lord and was confident of where he would be spending eternity.
He was a graduate of North Georgia Tech in Clarkesville. After graduation, Tommy served in the U.S. Air Force as a weapons tech, stationed in Thailand during the Vietnam war. When his military service ended, he became a flight instructor and flew single engine planes for a charter service. Tommy returned to Elberton and worked as a supervisor at the Elberton Office of the Department of Labor for 34 years. He enjoyed membership in the Elberton Lions Club for many years.
A funeral service for Tommy will be held in the Sanctuary of Concord United Methodist Church on Thursday, November 20, at 2:00p.m. The family will greet friends after the service. Private burial will follow in the family plot in the church cemetery.
Tommy’s wishes were that flowers place be omitted, and that memorials be sent to the beloved Concord United Methodist Church, 2515 Harmony Road, Elberton, GA 30635.
