Daniel Thomas Keever, Sr.

Mr. Daniel Thomas Keever, Sr., 80, formerly of the Rock Branch Community in Elberton, husband of 60 years to Linda Gayle Coffee Keever, passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at his residence in Newborn. 

Born in Lilburn on October 30, 1942, Dan was the eighth of nine children born to Leon Houston Keever and Eunice Myrtle Richardson Keever. He was a 1960 graduate of Lilburn High School and furthered his education at Massey Business School in Atlanta. Dan began his career at the Fulton County Health Department where he was a computer operator. He later entered the transportation industry where he would retire as Vice President of Traffic and Sales of Brown Transport. After retirement, he and Linda founded Southern Transport Company where they worked as consultants and assistants to various trucking companies. 

They moved to Elberton in the early 2000s to be near Lake Russell. The couple enjoyed spending their time together fishing and immersing themselves into the community. Dan and Linda became active members of Rock Branch Baptist Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed restoring tractors.

Surviving, in addition to his wife of 60 years, are his son, Daniel Thomas “Danny” Keever, Jr. and his wife Sharon of Newborn; daughter, Kimberly Lynn Keever Cannon and her husband Darryl of Powder Springs; siblings: Felix Keever of Lilburn and Emily Bennett of Dacula; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives. 

The family will receive friends on Friday, July 28, from 2:00-2:45p.m. at Rock Branch Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 3:00p.m. at the church with the Rev. Kevin Vaughn officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
