David John Galvond

Mr. David John Galvond of Hartwell Hwy. Elberton, GA passed away Sunday, July 7, 2024 at his home. 

He was born in Hammond, Indiana, on March 21, 1949. 

He was preceded in death by his parents John Galvond and Eleanor Crowell and his stepmother Naomi Jean Galvond. 

David served in the Army 1968 to 1971; he fought in the Vietnam war and was promoted to the rank of Sargent. Throughout his life he held different jobs of service. He served a few years as a firefighter in Clayton County, before going into law enforcement and corrections for many years; he finished his law enforcement career as a prison warden. David had a passion for helping others.

He leaves behind his wife of 51 years, Barbara Galvond, daughter Dava (Timmy) Dobbs and son, Barjon (Laura) Galvond. He also leaves behind four siblings, Kevin (Susan) Galvond, Brian (Elizabeth) Galvond, Karen Crump and Brenda Hanchett, 5 grandchildren, Kilian Galvond, Rory Galvond, Miracle Dobbs, Gabriella Dobbs, Eden Dobbs, nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews, friends and his Siberian Husky, Koda Belle.

The family plans to have visitation at Union Baptist Church at 2900 Hwy 106S in Hull, GA on Saturday, July 20th at 11:00, with a Memorial service to follow at 12:00.
