DeeDee Cleveland Roberts

Denise (Dee Dee) Cleveland Roberts, 60, passed away on Wednesday June 21, 2023.  Dee Dee was a native of Elbert County born to the late Embry Dennis Cleveland and Jane Parham Cleveland.  She was a graduate of Elbert County Comprehensive High School and received her LPN from Athens Technical College.  She was a member of the Ruckersville United Methodist Church.

Dee Dee was a loving and kind soul who loved life.  She loved her family, friends, and patients.  Dee Dee especially loved her "boys," referring to her husband, son, and the love of her life, her grandson.

One of Dee Dee's many talents was nursing.  She had a real nurse's heart.  This was witnessed through many years working as a nurse at hospitals, nursing homes, physician offices and the VA Clinic.  She truly enjoyed taking care of her patients.  Dee Dee was currently working as a nurse for the Veterans Administration Medical Clinic in Athens, GA where she was loved by her many patients and was awarded "Nurse of the Year" for two consecutive years.

Dee Dee was a true friend.  She made people feel special.  She was always putting others before herself.  She brought true friendship and joy to many.  Dee Dee was also known to love animals and would never turn down a stray animal.  

When Dee Dee wasn't working, she loved spending time in the kitchen, watching the Georgia Bulldogs, going to the beach, and spending time with family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Embry David Cleveland of Elberton.

She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Bobby Roberts; son, Tyler Roberts; and grandson, Conner Roberts, all of Elberton;  first cousins: Heather Nestor, Howard Gailey, Sid Gailey and Pam Almond, all of Elberton.  She also leaves behind brothers-in-law Donny McKellar (Tracy) and Rick Roberts (Elaine).

A service to honor Dee Dee's life will take place at 2:00 P.M. Monday, July 3, 2023 in the chapel of Hicks Funeral Home with Reverend Jim McCollough officiating.  Interment will follow at Elmhurst Cemetery.
