It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Diane McKinney Howington, a beloved member of the Commerce, Georgia community. Diane peacefully departed this world on November 4, 2023, at the age of 75, in Elberton Georgia. She was born on February 21, 1948, in Commerce Georgia to the late Sarah Embrick and William Henry McKinney. Diane was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jimmy Jerry Howington; and granddaughter, Rochella D. McClain.
A dedicated nanny, Diane held a special place in the hearts of her grandchildren, who adored her dearly. Her daughters, Amanda Dawn Byrom and Terri Ann McClain, along with her treasured grandchildren: Adraina Howington, Adrian Howington, Samantha Howington, Keshia Harrison, Jerrell Harrison, Jerremy Harrison, Jacque'line Garcia. and Brycianna Rodriguez. Diane also had the joy of being a great-grandmother to thirteen children.
Diane was a graduate of Commerce High School, class of 1966. Diane furthered her education and became an LPN in 1970.
In accordance with Diane's wishes, her life will be honored privately by her family, who will gather to celebrate her remarkable journey. Through shared memories and heartfelt tributes, they will pay homage to her. Diane McKinney Howington will be remembered for the passion she had for animals and her grandchildren.
