Doris Cleveland Anderson

Ms. Doris Cleveland Anderson, 73, of Porter Drive, Elberton, passed away suddenly but peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at her residence.

The youngest of six, Doris was born in Elberton on July 24, 1953, daughter of the late William Henry “Big Baby” Cleveland and Inette Andrews Cleveland. A hard working lady, Miss Doris worked several jobs to support her family, and was currently working as a CNA caregiver and as an attendant at the Elbert County Recycling Centers. Always one to put others first, she loved her family dearly and was an exceptional mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend.

Survivors are her children and their spouses: Michael (Tetley) Anderson of Bowersville, Tony Anderson of Union City, Shawn (Jaudon) Heard of Monroe, and Paula (Bennie) Hughes of Elberton; grandchildren: Shanekqua Anderson, Valencia Hill, Keenan Anderson, Michael Anderson, Jr., Dormyce Anderson, and Sydney Anderson; five great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Along with her parents, Doris is preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Sharon Anderson; and siblings: Pete Cleveland, Leroy Cleveland, David Cleveland, Mattie Sue Hamrick, Janie Mae Moss, and Walter Mosley Cleveland.

Graveside services celebrating her life will be conducted on Tuesday, September 29, at 1:00p.m. at Carlton Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

There will be no public viewing; however, friends may pay their respects and sign the guestbook on Monday, September 29, from 9:00a.m. until 6:00p.m. at Berry Funeral Home.
