Dorothy Ann Tucker Barton

Mrs. Dorothy 'Ann' Tucker Barton, of Canon, formerly of Bowman, wife of the late John Alvin Barton, passed away on Friday, August 28, 2026, at Brown Health & Rehabilitation Center in Royston. 

Mrs. Barton was born May 17, 1946 in Greenwood, SC to Charles Herman Tucker and Dorothy Lee Broome Tucker. She was a para-pro teacher at Falling Creek Elementary School in Elberton, GA.

Mrs. Barton resided in Canon, GA with her niece-bonus daughter Cynthia Barton Kennedy until she was moved to Browns Nursing Home for three weeks due to her illness, where she went home to be with Jesus.

She is survived by her bonus daughter Cynthia Barton Kennedy (Rodney) of Canon, GA grandsons: Bryan, Brent, Preston, John Frank; granddaughter: Kristie Harrell (Matthew); great-grandchild: Austyn Berkley Harrell; bonus grandchildren: Ashley Fowler (Nic), April Cairnes (Bryan), Chad Kennedy (Victoria); bonus great-grandchildren: Colton Fowler, Addie Fowler, Korrah Fowler, Bailey Bruce, Kayson Cairnes and Stetson Kennedy.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband John Alvin Barton, sons: John Gary Barton, Charles Neil Barton and a infant grandson Brandon Barton.

Graveside memorial services will be held 3PM, Wednesday, September 2, 2026 at Hillcrest Cemetery in Bowman, GA with Rev. Gary Purvis officiating. 

The family will be at the home of her bonus-daughter Cynthia Kennedy (Rodney) in Canon, GA.
