Elmira Gunnells Lesseur

Mrs. Elmira “Myra” Gunnells Lesseur of Calhoun Falls Highway, Elberton, passed away at Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital on her 100th birthday, July 31, 2025.

Mrs. Lesseur was born in Danielsville, Madison County, to John Willie Gunnells and Mary Lucille Nash Gunnells on July 31, 1925. She was married to the love of her life, the late Millard Lesseur, for 71 years. She love family, friends, and especially children and animals. Myra was a longtime member of Bethel E Baptist Church.

She is survived by her niece, Leslie Kolacki; sister-in-law, Katie Gunnells; and many other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by an infant son and siblings: Will D. Gunnells, Johnette Swann, Rachael Williams, Louise Gunnells, Marian Kinsey, Mary Sue Ginn, and Jimmy Gunnells.

At Myra’s request, no services are planned. You are invited to privately celebrate Myra’s memory in your own way. She will be with us all in spirit.
