Faye Dickerson Hix

Faye Dickerson Hix of Comer, lovingly known as Faye, Mama, or Nana passed away peacefully on July 25, 2026, at the age of 79.

She lived a long, meaningful life centered around family and though her loss is deeply felt, there is comfort in knowing how wonderful her years were and how much we loved her, and she loved us.

Faye was born in 1947, Elberton, GA to Pearl and Pierce Dickerson. She married Velton Hix, Jr. in 1965, and had three children. Mom worked the small town country store in Comer, Chamber's Grocery, as we were growing up, as well as raising cattle and tending to gardens and being a homemaker.

Faye is survived by her devoted husband, Velton Hix, Jr.; her children, Velton (Sheri) Hix, III, Keely (Charles) Hix Bruce, David (Windy) Hix; grandchildren, Braxton (Crystal) Hix, Kyle (Rachel) Bruce, Velton Hix, IV, Christopher (Ashley) Bruce, Andrew (Taylor) Ayers, Megan Hix, Hannah Bruce, Fairand (Jacob) Hix Murray, Skye (Naomi) Haney, Casey (Sadie) Haney, and Dylan (Brittany) Haney. Also 15 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

She is reunited with her parents, beloved brothers, Charles Dickerson and Robert Dickerson in Heaven.

The family would like to thank Sheri Hix and Chloe Chandler for their care giving through the past few years and the wonderful team of nurses and caregivers at Avery Village in Winterville for their loving care in her final year.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
