FRED GULLEY September 5, 1937 – August 8, 2013 ANDERSON, SC Fred Aulston Gulley, age 75, of Anderson, passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2013 at the Rainey Hospice House. Born in Elbert County, GA, he was the son of the late Jake Gulley and the late Julia Teasley Gulley. He was a graduate of Elbert County High School. Fred proudly served his country in the United States Army from November 9, 1960 until December 21, 1962. He retired from Security Forces. He loved to travel and was an avid Atlanta Braves baseball fan. Fred was a member of Orrville Baptist Church. He is survived by his loving wife, June Charping Gulley; his son, Bryan Gulley, of Washington, DC; two sisters, Mary Brown, of Elberton, GA and Jean Emerson, of Greenville, SC; a beloved cousin, James Gulley and his wife Dianne, of Elberton, GA; and his cat, Sidney. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Travis, Robert and Wilbur Powell; and one sister, Ruby Alexander. The Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at 2:00 PM with Reverend Wendell Bannister officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, prior to the service from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM. Private interment will follow at M.J. Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621, or to Orrville Baptist Church, Building Account, 2600 South Main Street, Anderson, SC 29625.
