Fred Lee Allen

Fred Lee Allen was born on January 5, 1957, to the late Ethel Ruth Brown Allen and Robert Allen, Sr. He was called home on January 26, 2021, at Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital. Mr. Allen was preceded in death by one brother, Bennie Allen; one nephew, Deuntrae Terrell Allen; and one great-nephew, Randall D. Winn, Jr.

The second of seven siblings, Fred attended Jones Street Elementary School and Elbert County Middle School. He was a good man with a big smile who had a heart like gold. Fred was loved his son, extended family, friends, and never met a stranger. He was a humble, hard working man who worked in the granite industry as a sandblaster for many years. Fred’s employment included Keystone Memorials, Grimes Brothers Granite, Lexington Blue Granite, and Majestic Granite. He was honored to have his work displayed on the Elberton Granite Association Display in Downtown Elberton.

Fred is survived by his wife, Patricia; one son, Fredrick Lee Allen (Michelle Brownlee); four step-children: Demetris Wright, Alexis Wright, Isiah Parrish, Ratavious Yearby; raised in the home, Kim Rucker Fortson; six sisters: Ethel Ruth Allen, Charlotte Harper, Elizabeth Allen (Enoch Huff), Judy Allen (Oather Pitttard), and Vickie Allen (James) Fortson, all of Elberton, and Garnett Sermons of Valdosta; four brothers: Joe James Allen, Robert Allen (Helen), both Elberton, Gary Allen of Atlanta, and Gene Mitchell Allen of Pensacola, FL; two uncles: John Brown of Clinton, SC and Robert Brown (Minnie) of Atlanta; eleven nieces; twelve nephews; and a host of great nieces, nephews, and extended family members.


Funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Sunday, February 14, at 3 o’clock in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Lincoln Heights Cemetery.
