Geneva Dutton Grimes

Mrs. Geneva Dutton Grimes, 83, of Lexington Hwy, Elberton, GA went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday October 5, 2025 surrounded by her loving family at Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital.

Geneva was born January 14, 1942 in Hartwell, GA to Edgar “Ed” and Mamie Dutton . She was a member of Elberton Church of God and was an dietarian for Comer Nursing Home for 20 plus years. She lived her life with grace, strength, and deep faith, always trusting in God’s plan.

Geneva was known for her kind heart, gentle spirit, and unwavering devotion to her family. She found joy in simple blessings in life, spending time with loved ones, caring for others, and giving encouragement rooted in faith. Her words and prayers brought comfort and peace to many.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: Jimmy Joe Lovinggood and Brenda of Dewy Rose, GA, daughters and son-in-law: Debbie Lovinggood of Elberton, GA, Trish Grimes Kidd and Frankie of Elberton, GA, sister: Dorothy Rousey of Greenwood, SC, grandchildren: Jimmy Jackson Lovinggood, Brandy Leeann Saxon (Steven), Bo Kidd, Gracie Kidd, Annabelle Kidd Gositt (Jacob); and one great-grandson: Steven Bradley Saxon.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband: Douglas Walton “Bo”Grimes, daughter: Brenda Gail Lovinggood Nash, brothers: Charles Dutton, Amos Dutton, Garrison Dutton, Jerry Dutton, James Dutton; sisters: Ruby Nell House, Kathleen Grizzle and Lillian Douglas.

Funeral services to celebrate Geneva’s life will be held 4PM, Thursday, October 9 in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Fernandez officiating. Interment will follow in Elmhurst Cemetery with Jimmy Jackson Lovinggood, Frankie Kidd, Bo Kidd, Jacob Gositt, Steven Saxon and Steven Bradley Saxon serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 3PM to 3:45PM just prior to the service at Berry Funeral Home.
