George Windfred “Windfred” Warren met his Savior on July 17, 2026.

Windfred was the kind of man whose life was measured not by what he accumulated, but by what he gave away. He gave his family his time, his knowledge, his steady presence, and the example of a life built on hard work, integrity, humility, and love.

If something was broken, Windfred could fix it. Whether rebuilding an engine, working in his shop, tending a garden that fed his family, making deer jerky, or baking biscuits and cornbread that always tasted like home, he found joy in using his hands to care for the people he loved. Among family and friends, he was the go-to person when it came to dirt track race car engines. His knowledge, skill, and willingness to help earned the respect of everyone who knew they could count on Windfred to get an engine running at its best. He believed there was dignity in honest work and value in learning to do things for yourself.

Windfred was also a protector by nature. His siblings looked up to him and admired him, and together they leaned on one another through life’s joys and hardships. He was a man of few words, but when he spoke, people listened. Just as meaningful as the words he chose was the quiet strength found in what he left unsaid. His presence often communicated more than words ever could.

More importantly, Windfred taught by example. He patiently passed along the skills he had learned—from chopping wood and driving a tractor to taking pride in a job well done. His lessons reached far beyond practical skills. He quietly taught perseverance, responsibility, generosity, and faithfulness, leaving a legacy that will continue through the generations who were blessed to know him.

Our Daddy was all of those things… and so much more.

To his family, Windfred was more than a husband, father, brother, and grandfather. He was a steady presence, a trusted guide, and a faithful friend. His love was most often seen in the everyday moments—in the things he built, the meals he prepared, the stories he shared, and the countless ways he faithfully cared for those around him.

Windfred lived a life that quietly reflected the love of Christ. Through his kindness, humility, and servant’s heart, he let his light shine—not to draw attention to himself, but so others might see the goodness of God. Those who knew him will remember not only what he accomplished with his hands, but the grace, generosity, and quiet faithfulness with which he lived each day. His life pointed beyond himself to the One who gave him both the ability and the desire to serve others, bringing glory not to himself, but to God.

Though our hearts are broken by his passing, we rejoice in the hope found in Jesus Christ. Windfred’s faith carried him through life’s joys and hardships, and today we rest in the assurance that he is in the presence of the Savior he loved.

Windfred was preceded in death by his father, George Fred Warren; and his mother, Grace Lou Jones Warren.

Windfred is survived by his wife, Jane Fleeman Warren; his daughter, Sadina Moon and her husband, Cal Moon; his sons: Michael Warren and his wife, Brandy Warren, and Aaron Warren and his wife, Robin Warren; his grandchildren: Parker Warren, Andrew Holley, Tyler Warren, Kyle Warren, McKenzie Warren, Addyson Warren, Curtis Flowers, and Jamie Holley; six great-grandchildren; his siblings: Deborah McCall, Brenda Dolores Dunn, Anthony Warren, and Quinton Warren; and his mother-in-law, Carolyn Fleeman. His family will forever cherish his memory and continue the legacy he built—not only through the things he made, but through the lives he shaped.

The family will receive friends on Friday, July 24, from 6:00p.m. until 8:00p.m. at Berry Funeral Home.

Memorial services celebrating Windfred's life will be conducted on Saturday, July 25, at 2:00p.m. at Deep Creek Baptist Church, with the Revs. Roger Elrod and Douglas Huff officiating.
