Gwen Floyd Hearn

Verna Gwen Floyd Hearn, age 89 of Griffin, formerly of Elberton, passed away Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at Brightmoor Hospice.

Mrs. Floyd-Hearn was born in Griffin, Georgia on January 11, 1934. Her parents, Green Walter Smith and Amos Burnette Smith; beloved first husband, David Alton “Buddy” Floyd and daughter, Mary Elizabeth Diaz all preceded her in death. She was retired from the Georgia Department of Labor and was a member at Hampton First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Gene Hearn; her children, Kerry Floyd (Teresa), Joel Floyd (Vicki), Jeffrey Floyd (Beth), Chris Floyd (Janet); 17 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation for Verna Gwen Floyd-Hearn will be Friday, August 11, 2023 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm and Saturday, August 12, 2023 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. A funeral service will be Saturday, August 12, 2023 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Conner-Westbury. Interment will follow at Sunny Side First Baptist Church Cemetery.
