Harold Danny Wiles

Mr. Harold “Danny” Wiles, 81, of the Paoli Community of Carlton, Georgia, and husband of the late Patricia Ann “Trisha” Miller Wiles, passed away on Monday, August 10, 2026, at Highlands Senior Living in Norcross.

Born at the home of his maternal grandparents, Molly (Adams) and Cliff Turner in Elbert County on December 27, 1944, Danny was the second of three children born to Harold Edgar Wiles and Ethel Olivia Turner Wiles. He was a graduate of Elbert County High School, where he excelled in both track and football. The Elberton Star reported in November 1962, “Danny “The Dancer” Wiles sets new school scoring record during his senior football season, scoring 21 touchdowns and 126 points in just 10 games.” He was honored with the Elks Award as the most Valuable Varsity Back.

Danny was a member of New Bethel United Methodist Church. He was a prominent member of the local Elberton granite community and the owner and operator of Wiles Granite Company, Inc., a monument and memorial manufacturing firm. Through his work, he built a successful career in an industry deeply rooted in Elbert County.

Danny enjoyed traveling, spending time at his mountain retreat in Cleveland, Georgia, riding his Harley near and far, and restoring automobiles. He had a love for the open road, the mountains, and bringing old cars back to life.

Danny loved his family. He is survived by his children: Lisa Elaine Wiles of Macon, Kristi Wiles Emeneker and her husband, Vic, of North Augusta, South Carolina, and Ryan Matthew Wiles and his wife, Shannon, of Avondale Estates; his grandson, Weston Payne Wiles of Avondale Estates; his step-daughter, Kelli Tate and her husband, Marty, of Elberton; his step-grandson, Christopher Tate and his wife, Abbey, of Lincolnton; his step-great-grandson, Brewer Tate of Lincolnton; his siblings: Linda Wiles Wansley of Toccoa and Mark Wiles and his wife, Stephanie, of Elberton; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends; and his beloved dogs: Rocky and Candy.

Danny will be remembered for his strong work ethic, independent spirit, love of family, and the many adventures and experiences that made up a life well lived.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 15, from 10:00a.m. until 10:45a.m. at New Bethel United Methodist Church.

Graveside services, officiated by the Rev. Richard Jarvis, will follow at 11:00a.m. in the church cemetery.
