Harry Bert Floyd

Mr. Harry Bert Floyd passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, August 2, 2026, at his residence on Indian Hill Road in Elberton. He was 83 years old and the husband of Janet Rhodes Floyd.

The second of three, Harry was born in Elberton on February 1, 1943, to Jasper Floyd and Annie Evelyn Blair Floyd. He was a 1961 graduate of Elberton High School and furthered his education at Athens Technical College. A hard working man, Harry worked in numerous jobs throughout his lifetime. He is most remembered from Elberton Sheet Metal, Swift Fire, and Swiftco. Harry was a member of Fortsonia Baptist Church and loved being with his church family. He served his country in the Georgia Army National Guard. 

A very talented man, he enjoyed restoring antique tractors and motors, with a special love of John Deeres. Harry loved animals, and spent many years raising canaries and peacocks.

In addition to Janet, his wife of 39 years, he is survived by his two children: Quinn (Tammy) Floyd and Jerrie Floyd; sister, Carol Waters Richardson; grandchildren: Rachel (Jared) Floyd Abercrombie, Carter ‘Cruz’ Floyd, Toni (Josh) Evans, and Erica Burden; and seven great-grandchildren. Uncle Harry also leaves behind nephew, Eric and Charla Rousey; great-niece and great-nephew: Taylor Rousey Floyd, Logan Rousey, and Chas Rousey; and great-great-nephew, Weston Floyd.

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Neal and Brenda Floyd; and great-great-nephew, Colton Rousey.

The family is at the residence and will receive friends on Wednesday, August 5, from 6:00p.m. until 8:00p.m. at Berry Funeral Home.

Funeral services celebrating Harry's life will be conducted on Thursday, August 6, at 11:00a.m. at Fortsonia Baptist Church with the Revs. Andrew Danals and Douglas Huff officiating. Interment will follow in the Fortsonia Cemetery with Stan Dixon, Brent Dixon, Jason Franklin, Josh Franklin, John Busby, and Rock Evans serving as pallbearers.
