Hugh Dennis Floyd

Mr. Hugh 'Dennis' Floyd, 70, of Dewy Rose, husband of the late Leigh Anne Ridgeway Floyd, passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at his residence.

Dennis was born in Elberton on September 20, 1955, son of the late Hugh Emory Floyd and Launia Doris Pulliam Floyd. He was a 1973 graduate of Elbert County High School who participated with Athens Technical College’s dual enrollment program to receive a certificate in auto mechanics. Dennis enjoyed fellowshipping with his church family at Impact Church of Hartwell.

In his early years, Dennis worked at Mercer Granite Company and as a truck driver for many years. He later went to work alongside his father at the family business, Nylon Belt Company, which is still in operation today as Straps and Supplies. Dennis was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, especially trout fishing. He and Leigh enjoyed horseback riding together. Dennis also had a special love of sports, never missing an opportunity to cheer on the Georgia Bulldogs or watch a baseball or softball game.

Above all, he loved his family dearly. Surviving are his children and their spouses: Christopher and Marlia Floyd, Cynthia and Joey Beeson, Drew and Megan Durham, Carter and Dex Worley, and Grayson Higginbotham; grandchildren: Alexis, Aleigha, Aliza Jo, Stella, Navy, and Indy; siblings and their spouses: Tammy and Jerry Smith and Keith and Fran Floyd; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 28, from 1:00p.m. until 1:45p.m. at Berry Funeral Home. Memorial services, officiated by the Rev. Tim Adams, will follow at 2:00p.m. in the funeral home chapel.

Flowers are accepted and contributions may be made in his memory to Celebrate Recovery of Elberton, 132 Heard Street, Elberton, GA 30635.
