Mr. Jimmy Lee Smith, 61, of Woodyard Road, Elberton, husband of Cheryl Sweeney Smith, passed away on Monday, May 19, 2014, in Elberton. Mr. Smith was born in Franklin County on October 28, 1952, to the late Albert Walter and Julia Scoggins Smith. He was a retired Electronics Engineer from Southeastern Power Administration. Jimmy was a devoted Jehovah's Witness who served on the Regional Building Committee. Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Cheryl Sweeney Smith of the home; daughters, Misty Fife of Dewy Rose and Candi Clark of Hartwell; step-sons, Joshua Fitzgerald and Chris Fitzgerald, both of Augusta; siblings, Sue Scarborough of Elberton, Lynn Raybon of Norwood, Elbert Smith of Royston, Timothy Smith of Elberton, and Ronnie Smith of Elberton; nine grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by an infant sister, Sandra Cheryl Smith. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 22, at 11:00a.m. in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses of Hartwell with Elder Timothy Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Elmhurst Cemetery. Mr. Smith will be placed in the Kingdom Hall at 10:00a.m. to lie instate until the service hour. The family is at the residence on Woodyard Road and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 5:00-7:00p.m. on Wednesday evening. Flowers are optional; those desiring may make contributions in Mr. Smith's memory to Worldwide Work of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1394 Mineral Springs Road, Elberton, GA 30635.
