John Jay Powell

Mr. John Jay Powell, 91, of Boyd Miller Dr., Elberton, GA passed away Thursday, January 25, 2018 at his home.

Mr. Powell was born March 15, 1926 in Banks County, GA to Luther Powell and Lori Greenway Powell. He was retired from the textile industry.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years: Genell Seagers Powell; children and their spouses: Brenda and Ronnie Knapp, Betty and Harold Sheriff, Patsy Botts, Carey and Georgia Powell, Don Powell, and William Powell; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son: Luther Powell and a grandson: Christopher Drake.

Funeral services to celebrate his life will be held 2PM, Sunday, January 28 in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with Rev. Marshall Vaughn and Donald Vaughn officiating. Interment will follow in Elmhurst Cemetery. The family is at the home on Boyd Miller Dr. and will receive friends from 6-8PM Saturday night at Berry Funeral Home.
