John "JW" Wiley Hood

John Wiley Hood, age 92, passed away on November 9, 2025. A native of Elberton, Ga., John was the son of the late John Curry and Lizzie Mae Hood. 

John was preceded in death by his wife Anna Hood and his son Ray Hood, Sr., and his siblings John JC Curry, Bennie Curry, and Rosa Curry.

Survivors include his daughter; Lessie (Booker T) Orsley, step-daughters; Wilma (Cleveland) Hampton, Mary (Edward) Cammarata; siblings; Mable Collins, Peggy Curry, Wadine Curry, Gloria Tatum, William (Jerrie) Curry, Roy (Toya) Curry, Wayne Curry, Jerry Barnett, Mary Barnett, Robert Barnett; 7 grandchildren; Ray Hood, Jr., Bernetta Hood, Stephen Orsley, Antoine Orsley; 13 great grandchildren; Lakel’ Hood, Karen Carpenter, Tanesha Johnson, Olivia Orsley, Chanz Orsley, Chyna Orsley and a host of nieces, nephews and other family.

Funeral services will be held in the Berry Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday November 19, 2025 at 1pm. The family will receive friends from 12-12:45 prior to the service. The burial will follow at Pine Town Cemetery.
