Ms. Joyce Annelle White, beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished member of the Elberton community, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2025, near Braselton, Georgia at the age of 83.
Joyce was the oldest child of Frank S. White of Villa Rica, Georgia and Bess Mize of Warwick, Georgia. She spent most of her youth in Warwick, Georgia with her extended family including her beloved Aunt Vee and her grandparents, Jim Champion and Ella Champion. Joyce later moved to Hartwell and then on to Elberton but always considered herself “a South Georgia girl”.
Joyce was known for her chocolate delight cake and creative spirit, Joyce had a lifelong love of cooking, sewing, and crafting. Her talents brought joy not only to her family but also to the many guests who stayed at Rainbow Manor, the bed and breakfast she lovingly owned and operated for many years in Elberton, Georgia. Her hospitality and care made Rainbow Manor a treasured haven for travelers and locals alike.
Joyce is survived by her son, Franklin Lee Turner, and his wife Melissa Turner of Sea Island, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her youngest son, Chris Turner of Marietta, Georgia. Chris was only 48 years old at the time of his death and loved by all. She also leaves behind two adored grandchildren, Rushton Turner, husband Brian Barry of Alexandria, Virginia and Franklin Turner, fiancée Alexandra Linne of Gulf Port, Mississippi, who brought her endless pride and joy. Joyce leaves behind a brother, John White of Carrollton, Georgia, a sister, Jo Beth Sewell of Hartwell, Georgia and Frank White, Jr. (Chip) of Toccoa, Georgia. Very special extended family includes Linda and Ray Polniak along with their children, Lindsey, Chris and Nick as well as Larry Brown and son, Taylor. Many precious nieces and nephews completed her inner circle and made her incredibly proud.
Family visitation will be held at 10:00am on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at New Bethel United Methodist Church in Elberton, Georgia, with a funeral service held at 11:00am. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Joyce White’s life was a conglomeration of laughter, creativity, and service to others. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
