Mr. Kevin Gartrell, 69, of Elberton, husband of 49 years to Bessie Ann Hill Gartrell, passed away on Friday, July 17, 2026, at his residence.
Kevin was born in Washington on May 1, 1957, and was raised in Tignall. He was educated in the Wilkes County School System and joined Reeves Chapel at a young age. Kevin worked as a polisher in the granite industry and was immaculate in detailing cars.
In addition to his wife, Bessie, he is survived by his children: Eric Gartrell of Alabama and Kassioteia Gilchrist and her husband Nabruce of McCormick, SC; siblings: Jessie Martin and Sue of Elberton and Peggy Jenkins of Washington; sisters-in-law: Lena Gartrell, Hattie Gartrell, Mary and Lonnie Saddler, and Beverly Hill; brothers-in-law: Willie Hill, and Calvin Hill; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Kevin is preceded in death by his mother, Agnes Martin Gartrell; son, Bryant Keith Hill; siblings: Henry Gartrell, Linda Martin, Gloria Walton, Drendell Gartrell, Barbara Neal, and Wallace Gartrell; and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ida Mae and Zora Thornton, Jr.
He will lie in state on Thursday, July 23, from 9:00a.m. until 4:00p.m. for those wishing to pay their respects and sign the guestbook.
Funeral services celebrating Kevin’s life will be conducted on Friday, July 24, at 12noon in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Lincoln Heights Cemetery.
