Marcia Elaine Brown Easom Eavenson

Marcia ‘Elaine’ Brown Easom Eavenson, 74, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at her home on Sunrise Court in Elberton following a brief illness. She was twice married, first for 42 years to the late Fredrick Louie Easom and second for 7 years to the late Charles Thomas Eavenson. She was a steadfast and dedicated caretaker to both of her husbands during their illnesses.

The eldest of two, Elaine was born in Elberton on February 10, 1952, daughter of the late Veal Eugene Brown and Margaret Joanne Walters Brown. She was a graduate of Elbert County High School and later earned a Specialists Degree in Education.

Elaine worked at Southeastern Power Administration for several years before pursuing her true passion for education. She taught third-grade at Beaverdam Elementary for many years. During her time at Beaverdam, Elaine worked diligently to reopen the school’s nature trail and created a small pond for her students to enjoy, along the way teaching life lessons and sharing her love of nature with others.

She had a love for gardening that is evident in the many flower gardens she created at her home. Elaine was known for being particular in the most endearing way - a reflection of her care, attention to detail, and deep love for others. Once she set her mind to accomplish something, there was no changing it. She worked hard and passionately for the things she believed in.

Elaine was a dedicated member of Concord United Methodist Church. She selflessly served in various committees of the church and was most proud of her work as director of the Elbert County Food Ministry. The food ministry was extremely important to her and had become the focus of her life’s work.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, D. Matt and Savannah Easom; granddaughter, Cally Easom; sister-in-law, Maxine Easom; nieces and nephews: Meg Hines, Jay Brown, Katie Brown, Jesse Brown, and Kristen Brown; and Manny and Amy Lopez who were like children to Elaine. Along with her husbands and parents, Elaine is preceded in death by her brother, Mitchell Lee Brown.

A funeral service celebrating Elaine’s life will be conducted on Friday, May 1, at 3:00p.m. in the sanctuary of Concord United Methodist Church. The family will greet friends immediately following the service. Private burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Elaine’s wishes were that flowers please be omitted. If desired, contributions may be sent to her beloved Concord United Methodist Church, 2515 Harmony Road, Elberton, GA 30635.
