Mark Eugene McCurdy

We are saddened to share the passing of Mark Eugene McCurdy, who left us quietly at his home on May 20, 2026, at the age of 79. Mark’s life was a rich tapestry, woven with the threads of his many talents, deep love for his family and friends, and unwavering dedication to his work and passions.

Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, on July 30, 1946, Mark was a man of few words but possessed a heart that touched everyone he met. With the analytical mind of an engineer, Mark spent an impressive 48 years with the same company, where he designed machinery and equipment built in Germany and used in our country to this day. His creativity extended beyond engineering—Mark was also an accomplished artist, painting vibrant watercolor and oil pieces that reflected his unique perspective on the world.

Mark’s love for life was evident in his love of the outdoors, his fondness for hunting and fishing, and the joy he found in simply spending time at home with his horses and friends. He had a special place in his heart for animals and cherished the quiet moments in nature. Despite facing challenges with stoic courage, Mark never lost his zest for living or his appreciation for music, which he expressed through his beautiful singing voice. The poem “Man in the Arena” truly embodies Mark’s resilience and unyielding spirit.

Mark was a devoted son to the late William Robert and Myrtle Augustas Danner McCurdy, and he was predeceased by his siblings Doris Ullrich, Bill McCurdy, Anita Smith, and Michael McCurdy. He is survived by his loving wife, Karen Ann Wyatt; his children, Andrew McCurdy and Jeff McCurdy; his brother, Raymond “Ray” McCurdy; his grandson, Alex McCurdy; his stepson, Erik Sizemore and his adopted granddaughter, Kayla Smith

Mark’s legacy is one of integrity, artistry, patriotism, loyalty and love—a true example of what it means to live a full and meaningful life. Plans for a celebration of Mark’s life will be announced soon, and we hope you will join us in honoring his remarkable journey.

With heartfelt remembrance.
