Martha Ann Dixon Campbell

Mrs. Martha Ann Dixon Campbell, 80, longtime resident of Elberton, wife of the late Charles Erford Campbell, passed away on Friday, May 23, 2025. 

Mrs. Campbell was born in Elberton on July 15, 1944, daughter of the late Roscoe Lee Dixon and Nancy Virginia Lykins Dixon. She was a 1962 graduate of Elbert County High School and started her granite career at the age of 18 at Georgia Marble. Martha worked many years at Century Granite Company and retired from King's Monument Company. She was a lifelong member of Bethlehem Methodist Church where she played the piano for many years. Martha enjoyed cooking and never missed an opportunity to bake sourdough bread, or order the latest best item from QVC.

Survivors include her children: Cathy and Rick Strickland of Brunswick and Barry and Bethany Campbell of Suwanee; grandchildren: Connor Campbell and Cate Campbell; sister, Diane and Ken Hanson of Columbia, SC; sister-in-law, Lynn and Doug Saxon of Augusta; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives. 

Along with her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Evelyn and James Albert "Bo" Dixon; parents-in-law, Alvin and Sue Saxon Campbell; sisters-in-law, Margaret and Buddy Cheek and Judy and Buddy Martin; and brother-in-law, Allen and Janelle Campbell.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 28, from 2:00-2:45p.m. in the fellowship hall at Bethlehem Methodist Church. Funeral services, officiated by the Rev. John Moore and the Rev. Russell Repetske, will follow at 3:00p.m. in the church sanctuary. Burial, alongside her husband and parents, will be in the churchyard immediately following the service. Pallbearers will include Eddie Martin, Mark McCall, Glenn Parham, Keith Lutz, Johnny Lutz, and Mark Nash.

Flowers are accepted, and contributions may be made in her memory to Bethlehem Methodist Church, 1025 Welcome Church Road, Elberton, GA 30635.
