Martha Ellen "Marty" Barker

Martha Ellen Barker, 64, of Knoxville, TN, passed away on June 13, 2023, after a long battle with breast cancer.

Born on March 22, 1959, Marty was a loving grandmother who adored spending time with her family. She was known for her silly and adventurous personality and love for animals and the beach. Marty enjoyed fishing, reading, music, and road trips.

Marty is survived by her mother, Anna Tucker; son, Ryan Herrmann; daughter, Amy Herrmann; and grandsons: Anthony Schmitt and Jeffrey Schmitt. She is also survived by her half-brother, James M. “Jimmy” Barker, III.

Marty is preceded in death by her father, James M. Barker, Jr.; sister, Tamara Hahn; half-brother, Jeffery Barker; step-father, Thomas M. Tucker; and step-father, James J. Stump.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 23, at 10:30a.m. at the Chapel of St. John’s Episcopal Cathedral, 414 Church Street, Knoxville, TN 37902.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Young Williams Animal Center in Marty’s honor.
