Mr. Milton Steven “Steve” Almond, 86, of Jones Ferry Road, Elberton, husband of Jerolyn Bell Almond, passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at his residence.
Mr. Almond was born in Elberton on April 17, 1939, son of the late Milton Strickland Almond and Myrtis Ora Fleming Almond. He was a proud 1957 graduate of Elbert County High School and a Business graduate of South Georgia College.
Steve spent his career serving his friends and neighbors as a trusted insurance agent at Almond Insurance Agency and then Elberton Insurance Associates. He was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Elberton where he served as a Deacon and was a member of the Victory Sunday School Class. Mr. Almond was a member of the Jaycees and the Elberton Rotary Club.
Surviving, in addition to his wife Jerolyn, are his children: Chris Almond and his wife Stacey of Elberton, Kim Fuller and her husband Mark of Elberton, and Jon Almond and his wife Jennifer of Flowery Branch; sister, Jane Cleveland and her husband Al of Watkinsville; grandchildren: Sarah Fuller of Elberton, Reid Fuller of Nashville, Tennessee, Caroline Muller and husband Jack of Athens, Grace Fuller of Elberton, Max Almond of Savannah, and Abby and Emma Almond of Flowery Branch and a host of other relatives and friends including special family caregiver Ms. Johnnie Perrin.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Jim Almond and his wife Ruby.
The family is at the residence and will receive friends on Sunday, June 22, from 1:30p.m.-2:15p.m. in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church of Elberton. Funeral services, officiated by the Rev. Gary Purvis, will follow at 2:30p.m. Interment alongside his parents will follow in Elberton’s Historic Elmhurst Cemetery with Reid Fuller, Max Almond, Brad Burton, Blake Burton, Joe Williams and Chris Thornton serving as pallbearers.
