Monty Scott Threlkeld

Mr. Monty Scott Threlkeld, 66, of Melbourne, FL, husband of the late Donna Threlkeld, passed away on Friday, August 4, 2023, in Melbourne.

Born on July 29, 1957, in Elberton, GA, Monty was the third of six children of Olin Eugene Threlkeld and Rebecca Frances Maxwell Threlkeld. He was a 1976 graduate of Elbert County High School and attended Calvary Baptist Church in his youth.

Monty worked at The Elberton Star and Winn-Dixie Grocery store in his younger years. He found his niche in life during the construction of Richard B. Russell Dam where he was employed as a construction ironworker. He continued this work for most of his adult life throughout Georgia and Florida.

Monty was an excellent cook and was known for his green thumb which he used to nurture many plants. He was an avid fisherman and University of Georgia football fan. Monty’s sudden death has broken the hearts of many, but comfort is provided by knowing he has been reunited with his parents, Olin and Becky; his beloved wife, Donna; and brother Michael “Turk.”

He leaves behind his faithful cat, Chevy; siblings: Janet Adams of Bowman, GA, Chris Threlkeld of Elberton, GA, Judy (Brent) Craft of Anderson, SC, and Jennifer (Mark) Kimbel of Colbert, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A time of visitation celebrating Monty's life will be held on Sunday, August 13, from 1:00-3:00p.m. at Berry Funeral Home. Burial will be private in Elmhurst Cemetery.

Flowers are accepted and contributions may be made in Monty’s memory to T.J. & Friends Foundation PO Box 6161, Elberton, GA 30635.
