Mr. Nicky Doyle Sanders, 64, a respected member of the community of Arnoldsville, GA, passed away surrounded by his loving family on November 6, 2023, in Athens, GA.
He was born in Chester County, SC to Forest and Earleen Sanders. Nick’s life was an extraordinary journey marked by boundless passion for those that he loved. He was a beloved husband, father, “Papa”, and friend. He enjoyed spending time with his family especially attending his grandchildren’s activities and sporting events.
He was a respected and active member of various organizations. He found immense joy as part of the Cherokee Fishing Club, where he shared his love for fishing with fellow enthusiasts. Nick was also a member of the fraternal organization the Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks, USA in Sistersville, WV, contributing to the collective welfare and serving as an inspiration to others. His enthusiasm and comradery brought inspiration to those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Nick demonstrated dedication towards the betterment of his community. In his role as a current city council member of Arnoldsville, GA, Nick genuinely cared about addressing the needs and concerns of the citizens and worked to create a positive change and lasting impact on the town he called home. Professionally, Nick was most recently a chemical operator for Johnson and Johnson in Athens, GA. He also previously worked for Merial, Ltd, in Athens, GA and for The NutraSweet Co in Augusta, GA. Nick received his education at Aiken High School in South Carolina. He will be remembered as a man who made a significant impact in his community.
Beyond his work and community service, Nick found solace and joy in pursuing his hobbies. He spent countless hours hunting, fishing, and boating. Riding his Harley Davidson and driving his Jeeps were his essential “wind therapy”.
Nick leaves behind his beloved wife, Lillian Sanders, his children Brad (Dawn) Sanders of Harlem, GA, Brent (Skylar) Sanders of Martinez, GA, and Melissa (Robby) Zahner of North Augusta, SC, and his grandchildren: Preston, Michael, Cain, Chloe, and Chase.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Karen Sanders Edington and his granddaughter Emerson.
A celebration of Nick's life will be held 3PM, Saturday, November 18, at 5315 Adams Chapel Road, Dearing, GA. Look for a red bow on the mailbox.
