Mrs. Patsy Jean Taylor Hewell, 86, longtime resident of the Dewy Rose Community of Elberton, died peacefully on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at The Landings Senior Living in Bogart. She was the wife of nearly 54 years to the late Jerry Goss Hewell.

The third of three children, Pat was born on March 20, 1940, in Salisbury, NC, daughter of the late Cletus Eugene Taylor and Annie Lou Frick Taylor. Her two sisters, Margaret Taylor Prather and Martha Taylor Bell, preceded her in death. 

She was a graduate of Elberton High School and a life long member of First Methodist Church of Elberton.

Pat worked in radiology departments at various medical offices until her retirement. Pat, alongside Jerry, enjoyed raising cattle for many years. She loved being outside, working in her vegetable and flower gardens, and loving on any animal fortunate enough to cross her path.

She is survived by two nieces: Margaret Bell Brady of Elberton and Marya Bell Wansley of Buford; and nephew, Jack Bell of Lincolnton.

At Pat’s request, there will be no service or visitation. Burial will be private in Forest Hills Memorial Park. 

Those wishing to express their condolences may do so by signing the guestbook which will be available at Berry Funeral Home until Friday, July 31, 2026.

In lieu of flowers and food, those desiring memorial donations may be made in Pat’s memory to the Elbert County Humane Society, Post Office Box 267, Elberton, GA 30635.
