Pearlie Mae Hunter Cureton

Mrs. Pearlie Mae Hunter Cureton, 84, of Elberton, GA was born on June 3, 1939, to the late Mr. George Gaines and the late Ms. Vinnie Hunter. She was called to glory on November 27, 2023, at home surrounded by family.

She was married to the late Mr. Jimmy Thomas Cureton, to this union five cildren were born. She joined Norman Grove CME church after marriage. Pearlie worked at Central Soya for 15 years. She also raised her baby brother along with her own children.

Preceding her in death were her parents; two sons: Jimmy A. Cureton and Willie James Cureton; one sister; and four brothers.

Pearlie was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was also a mother to all the kinds that she came in contact with, and she never allowed anyone to leave her home hungry.

She leaves to cherish her memories: one daughter, Peggy Cureton of the home; two sons: Johnny (Loretta) Cureton of Elberton, GA; one daughter-in-law, Patricia Hunt Cureton of Calhoun Falls, SC; one sister, Susie Mae Gaines of Hartford, CT; one brother-in-law, George C. Blackwell of Elberton, GA; eleven grandchildren; twenty six great-grandchildren; fifteen great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services to celebrate her life will be held 3PM on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at Norman Grove CME Church. She will lie instate for one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
