Peggy Jane Sale

Peggy Jane Sale, 78, of Tignall passed away on May 30, 2026.

She was born on October 11, 1947, in Wilkes County to William Robert Sale and Mary Lois Bufford Sale. Peggy attended Tignall Elementary School, Washington-Wilkes High School, and graduated from Georgia College and State University. She was employed by the Elbert County Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS), then by Pabst Brewing Company for 19 years in Perry, GA. She later returned to Wilkes County working for Oglethorpe County DFCS and later Wilkes County DFCS until she retired.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters: Mary Janelle Sale Wolfe and Marjorie Ann Sale Gibson; and a beloved brother-in-law, Horace Eugene Gibson.

Survivors include her brother, Robert David Sale and sister-in-law Gloria Mills Sale of Dewy Rose, GA; niece, Scarlett Sale Gibson of Columbia, SC; nephew, Ronald Strother Wolfe, Jr. (Shelly) of Cartersville, GA; nephew, Michael David Sale (Angie) of Watkinsville, GA; niece, Michelle Dawn Gibson Banta (Josh) of Dallas, GA; niece, Suzanne Wolfe Jones (Lee) of Buda, TX; as well as several grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

A celebration of life for family and friends will be held on Saturday, June 13, from 10:00a.m. until 12:00 noon at Peggy’s home, 3635 Delhi Road, Tignall, Ga.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to Washington-Wilkes Animal Shelter, 358 Brown Road, Washington, GA 30673.
