Ronald Dennis "Ron" Ward

Mr. Ronald Dennis Ward, affectionately known as “Ron”, finished his course in faith on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at Elbert Memorial Hospital.

Ron was born in Commerce on September 2, 1953, son of the late Robert D. Ward and Martha Jeannette Chandler Ward. He was a 1971 graduate of Orange Park High School.

He had a long career with Southern Bell Telephone Company, later to be called BellSouth, where he worked as a lineman and installer until his retirement.

On June 10, 1989, Ron married Charlotte Ann Fuller, and enjoyed 32 years of marriage until her death on November 10, 2021.

n the mid 90s, Ron and Charlotte began planning for their retirement and sought a much slower pace than metro Atlanta had to offer. They found Elberton, and soon called it home. Ron relocated full time in 1998, and enjoyed the next 28 years living out his retirement years.

He enjoyed cattle farming and operating R/C Farms, a 114-acre operation in the Rock Branch Community of Elberton. Ron was a member of the Elbert County Farm Bureau and Elbert County Cattleman’s Association where he served 10 years as president. He was a former member of Dewy Rose Baptist Church and a present member of Rock Branch Baptist Church.

Having been preceded in death by his parents and wife, Ron leaves behind children and their spouses: Robert and Kaitlin Ward of Marietta, GA and Heather and Clint Morgan of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren: Grace, Andrew, Noah, and Ethan; sisters and brothers-in-law, Elaine and Chuck Hewatt of Loganville and Michelle and Daniel Kelley; and nieces, nephews, friends, and extended relatives too numerous to name.

A Service of Celebration and Thanksgiving for the Life of Ronald Dennis Ward will be held on Sunday, September 13, at 3 o’clock at Rock Branch Baptist Church with the Rev. Kevin Vaughn and the Rev. Kenny Atkins officiating. A reception and time of visitation will immediately follow the service at the church.
