Sandra Jean Barksdale Dye, age 70, of Elberton and formerly of Thomson, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 23, 2026, at her residence surrounded by the love of her family, following a brief but courageous battle with cancer.
Sandy was born in Manning, SC on December 9, 1955, and moved to Thomson in 1965. She was a graduate of Thomson High School and furthered her education at Middle Georgia College. After 39 years of service with the federal government, Sandy ended her career at Southeastern Power Administration when she retired as a management and program analyst.
In her free time, Sandy enjoyed putting her creative side to work making jewelry and sewing. She loved couponing, and often times bought items to donate to SafeHouse and God’s Marketplace with her coupons. Affectionately known as “Lala” to her family, her daughter and grandchildren were her greatest blessing in her life, with her beloved puppy Greta taking a close second.
She is survived by her daughter, Amanda Michelle “Mandy” Kamerad (Chris Cleveland) of Tignall; grandsons: Chandler Dallas Price (McKenna Looney) of Pendleton, SC and Preston Dean Price (Tangela Mosby) of Athens; great-granddaughter, Violet Price; sister, Patsy Clark of Thomson; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers: Dallas Barksdale and Billy Barksdale.
Her memorial service will be conducted on Sunday, March 1, at 2:00p.m. in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Pearson officiating.
Flowers are accepted. If desired, donations may be made in Sandy’s memory to God’s Marketplace, 729 E. Robert Toombs Avenue, Washington, GA 30673 or to SafeHouse Ministries, Post Office Box 6336, Elberton, GA 30635.
Those wishing may sign the online guestbook at berryfh.com.
