Mrs. Sara Paulette Black Pless Moon, 79, of Hamp Brown Drive, Elberton, passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at PruittHealth at Spring Valley with family at her side. She was twice married, first to the late George Ward Pless and second to Raymond Moon who survives.
Sara was born in Elberton on December 29, 1946, daughter of the late James Allen Black and Nina Alice Hendrick Black. She was a member of Elberton Christian Church and a bus driver having retired from the Elbert County School System. Sara was an excellent cook and enjoyed working word puzzles. She spent many hours bird watching and caring for any animal in need. Her infectious laugh and bright smile would light up any room in which she walked.
In addition to her husband Ray, she is survived by her children: Lynn (Kenneth) Dove of Elberton, Lisa Almond of Elberton, and Michael Pless of Dublin; sister, Iris Jones of Tennessee; three grandchildren: Megan (Justin) Fleming, Morgan (Richard) Waters, and Kassidy (Noah) Casey; and great-grandchildren: Brooklyn Waters, Cole Waters, Jared Fleming, and Jeremiah Fleming.
At Sara’s request, no formal services will be held. If desired, contributions may be made in her memory to the Elbert County Humane Society, Post Office Box 267, Elberton, GA 30635.
