Shirley Elizabeth Maxwell

Ms. Shirley Elizabeth Maxwell, 81, of Rhodes Dr. Elberton, GA passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2026 at Elbert Memorial Hospital.

Ms. Maxwell was born June 2, 1945 in Elberton, GA to Oscar Maxwell, Sr. and Esther Kinney Maxwell. She was CNA for Hartwell Health and Rehab.

She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law: Christine Blackerby (Will), Jennifer Jones, Cathy Aragon; daughter-in-law: Rita Wood; brothers: Lamar Maxwell, Danny Maxwell, Oscar "Bud" Maxwell, Jr.; sister: Jeanette Dutton; ten grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son James Rayford Wood, Jr. and siblings: Pat McCollum, Brenda Lyle, Lilly Harbert and Ann Bundrick.

Funeral services to celebrate her life will be held 10AM, Thursday, September 17, 2026 in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with James Rayford Wood, III officiating. The family will receive friends from 9AM to 10AM just prior to the service at Berry Funeral Home. Interment will be in Elmhurst Cemetery.
