Mrs. Thelma Patricia Hall Askew, 91, of Nancy Hart Nursing Home, formerly of Ernest Brown Rd., Elberton, wife of James Thurman Askew, passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2014, at Elbert Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Askew was born in Hartsville, Tennessee on April 15, 1923, to the late Samuel Joseph Hall and Sarah Evy Bullington Hall. She was a retired bookkeeper from C&S National Bank and worked for the Salvation Army in North Carolina, Maryland, West Virginia, and Georgia for twenty years. She was a very active member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher. Left to cherish her memories are her husband, James Thurman Askew of Elberton; children: Richard K. "Dick" Biggs of Gainesville, Larry Askew of Greensboro, Carol Johnson of Douglasville, Sharon Kelly of Lula, and Kay Kreft of Waleska; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Bobby Biggs; and siblings: Eugene Hall and Edith Thorsett. Funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Monday, September 15, at 11:00a.m. in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Rev. Sharon Coley and Rev. Chris Wagner officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park with Gary Williams, Rick Wansley, Marvin Dye, Eddie Christian, Johnny Lutz, and Gerald Moon honored as pallbearers.
