Tony Martin Carey

Mr. Tony Martin Carey, beloved husband, father, PawPaw, son, brother, and friend, passed away on June 7, 2026 at the age of 67, at his home in Carlton, GA. He was born on September 12, 1958, in Royston, GA.

A 1976 graduate of Elbert County High School, Tony was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers. He spent most of his career working in the natural gas pipe line industry, and attended Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

Tony was a man whose life was defined by hard work, dedication, and an unwavering love for his family. Never one to shy away from a challenge, he spent his life providing for those he loved and serving others with a generous heart. Whether through his work, his kindness, or the quiet ways he showed up when someone needed him, he left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

Above all else, Tony loved his family. He took great pride in being a husband, daddy, and PawPaw, and he cherished every moment spent with those he loved. He was a man of strong Christian faith, and his beliefs guided the way he lived his life. His strength, wisdom, and steady presence were a source of comfort and support to countless family members and friends. Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we are grateful for the example he set through a life of hard work and selfless love. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished, the lives he touched, and the values he instilled in those who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Tony is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Sharon King Carey; his children: Destiny (Stephen) LaShoto of Cumming, Drew (Leslie) Carey of Colbert, Draisen (Rosemary) Carey of Canon, and Donavan (Madisen) Carey of Dewy Rose; his mother, Carol Bowers Carey of Bowman; his brother, Mark (Connie) Carey of Athens; and his twelve cherished grandchildren, who brought him immeasurable joy: Evan, Heidi, Veda, Allie, Maelyn, Chandler, Kason, Levi, Oksana, Nell, Janie, and Olivia. He also leaves behind many beloved family members and dear friends who will miss him greatly. He is preceded in death by his father, John Martin Carey.

His funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 10, at 2:00p.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Chris Pritchett officiating. Tony will be placed in the church at 1:00p.m. He will be laid to rest in a private family ceremony at Hillcrest Cemetery in Bowman with Rev. Paul Creason officiating. There will be no formal visitation.
