Victor Wingate

Mr. Victor Wingate, 66, of Bowman, husband of Marion Bell Wingate, passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at his residence.

Mr. Wingate was born on January 19, 1959, in Kinston, North Carolina, to Paul Nelson Wingate and Mattie Dove Wingate. He received his early education in Lenoir, North Carolina, where his gentle spirit and joyful personality began to blossom.

He was preceded in death by his loving parents and his brother, Dexter Wingate Sr. Victor and Dexter shared a close bond and many adventures, traveling together to places like California, Texas, and Alaska—making memories that lasted a lifetime.

Victor was a proud member of the Masonic Lodge #293. In the late 1980s, he relocated to Georgia alongside his brother Dexter. Soon after, he began working at Gold Kist, where he remained for three years before joining Seaboard Farms, where he worked faithfully until his medical retirement.

Victor was a man of faith, joy, and deep compassion. He joined Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in 1993 and later became a dedicated member of the Deacon Board. He served the Lord and his church family with unwavering commitment, humility, and grace.

Known for his infectious laughter and magnetic personality, Victor had a remarkable way of lifting the spirits of everyone around him. He was truly one of a kind—always quick with a joke, a kind word, or a smile. Even during the most difficult moments of his life, Victor remained strong, optimistic, and full of light.

Victor accomplished many things, but perhaps his greatest legacy lies in the love he poured into his family and community. His strength, humor, and unwavering faith will forever be remembered.

On July 19, 2025, Victor Wingate transitioned peacefully and gained his wings. He is now resting in the arms of our Lord and Savior. Though he is no longer with us in body, his spirit lives on in all who knew and loved him.

Victor leaves behind a loving family who will continue to cherish his memory: his devoted wife of 30 years, Marion Wingate; and his children: Victoria M. Wingate of Elberton, GA, Michael P. Wingate (Brittany) of Rosharon, TX, Shannon M. Wingate of Duluth, GA, Montarious P. Wingate of Elberton, GA, and Kenya M. Wingate of Elberton, GA.

He was a proud and loving grandfather to four grandchildren: Christavion Bell, Bryant Wingate, Peyton-Abigail Powell, and Mia Corbett—each of whom he loved deeply and unconditionally.

Victor is also survived by his siblings: Aundrey (Nadine) Wingate Sr., Atalie (Milton) Grady, and Reginald (Barbara) Wingate; sisters-in-law: Sandy Wingate of Kinston, NC; Ruby (Henry) Fortson, Sharon Bell of Elberton, GA, Rena Bell, and Linda Bell Phelps of Athens, GA; one beloved aunt, Mrs. Lois Tate, Nephews; Dexter Wingate Jr, Raymond Grady, Aundrey (Brittney) Wingate Jr, Tyshun Moon, Justin Bell, Christopher Bell, and Montravious Partlow, Nieces; Delfonia Wingate, Miltia (Terrance) Wheatley, Shauntell (Damond) Johnson, Stacy (Tom) Wingate- Kincer, Paula (Bruce) Wingate-Woods, Elita (Sylvester) Jackson, Makesha (Ken) Mason, Nina (Benjamin) Fortson, Stacey and Kim Anderson, Savannah, Corriana and Skylar Phelps and sister-in-law Sue Hood of Elberton, GA.
